For some reason the Xbox 360 systems do not like me. This is the third time I have gotten the Red Ring of Death on my 360. It is a little frustrating to say the least. Well I decided to see what tips people had out there to fix it and avoid it. There is a ton of information out there so I thought I would compile a little bit of it to make it easier to find.
The fixes do work and they work great. You can easily have your 360 back up and running with in an hour or two. But here are a bunch of tips I found to avoid getting it again.
1. If you have your console sharing a shelf with something, move it and give it its own shelf. This will help the air around it dissipate and it will not get all the heat from the other electronics around it.
2. Try and keep the area where your 360 unit is sitting dust free. These things suck in a ungodly amount of dust and then this dust settles on the heat sink and does not allow the unit to dissipate the heat properly.
3. If you have an intercooler unit plugged in to it. Unplug that thing ASAP. That unit is notorious for killing the 360 unit all by itself. Don’t use any external 3rd party fan. If Microsoft had a fan that worked, don’t you think they would be selling it right now? That’s why I say don’t use the third party ones and from what I read it seems to be true.
Well those were the best tips I found out there. Hopefully your 360 has not died yet but fret not if it has as there are some great fixes out there. Hopefully this will help you avoid this problem with your Xbox 360 in the future.
