Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow video review of Fairy Fencer F for PS3, developed by Compile Heart and published by NIS America.

Fairy Fencer F looks, sounds, heck, it even smells like it belongs in the Hyperdimension Neptunia series. And it’s not just because it shares a developer; many of the assets, mechanics, and stylistic elements are lifted wholesale. This isn’t a Neptunia game, though; you’re not trolling through a twisted, self-referential game industry wonderland. Instead, it’s a high-fantasy quest to collect 100 swords – yes really – and use the spirits within to de-pincushion the goddess who fought a world-rending evil eons ago. Did we mention Amano and Uematsu? Y’know, from Final Fantasy? They’re from Fairy Fencer now. F.

This video review features video gameplay footage of Fairy Fencer F for PS3 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room’s TJ.

CGR Undertow - FAIRY FENCER F review for PlayStation 3

  1. Man I wanted a review not a recap of the story. Spoiling the plot won't help me decide if I want to buy it or not…

  2. I have it for PC i got it off from steam, and I must say its a nice JRPG game.. if you like Hyperdimension re;birth games and agarest of war games … you will like this one.. have to be a Idea Factory and compile heart fan to enjoy these games and love JRPGs at that.. i like it as it is my kind of games i like to play 🙂 its a good game (personally) is it good for everybody NO! and if you hated it.. i don't care thats you.. i like it for me 🙂

  3. so you think it's a good game? because you never said if you think it's good or NOT only that they might have over done it when put into the perspective of a person that might not be prepared for it. LOL

  4. Mugen souls and Mugen souls z are the only games I seen so far which I don't think they should count as a "series" or be characterized by any means but a game like "Hyperdimensional Neptunia" MK2, victory, re:birth1, re:birth2, PP, U…is!

An note its by the same game developer "Compile Heart".

  5. Between the PS3 & VITA why the fuck would you own a PS4
It's all western trash and not very good of it to begin with…

  6. I remember playing a demo for this a long time ago. It was in Japanese, and I don't speak or read Japanese. I think I liked it better when I didn't know what was going on or anything about it and just saw it as another game in the same style as Neptunia.

  7. Still playing through this game. Though I kinda had I hopes for this game because it was different to the Neptunia games. While it is different but it's like watching an anime that you keep watching expecting something awesome with it. While there were bits that I do like, overall it dose not live up to my expectations.

ALSO, surprised  this was not mentioned but playing this game at 1080p, frame rates is gawd awful! Set it to 720p and while it won't fix the issue, it will make it less bad.

  8. The gameplay reminds me more of Mugen Souls than Neptunia
I'm probably passing because I somewhat grew tired from CH games somewhat

  9. I bought this and ar nosurge and tears to tiara 2 hoping that they are good jrpgs that will be overlooked by most
